Blinking lights
When an error occurs, the power light blinks continuously and an error message displays on the computer. Read the onscreen error message explaining the issue and follow its solution.
Find the pattern of blinking lights in the following tables, and then review the solution as necessary. There may be more than one reason why the product lights are blinking, so there may be more than one solution.
The power light is blinking Close the product cover.
The product cover is open. 
Insert the appropriate paper in the paper tray.
The product is out of paper. 
Change the product's print mode setting.
Change the product's paper type selection.
Use a different brand of labels.
The product has difficulty picking up sheets of labels. 
Check if the error message 'Paper Jam ' appears on the computer.
Follow these steps in the order given to resolve the paper jam. Do not skip any steps.
Step one: Remove any loose paper
Remove any loose paper from the input tray.
CAUTION: Do not remove jammed paper at this stage. 
Step two: Clear the jam from the back of the product
Unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
To remove the rear access door, press the handle to the right, and then pull out the door.
Remove any paper that is inside the product by pulling the paper out from the back of the product 
Replace the rear access door.
Plug the power cord back into the product and try printing again.
If the issue is not resolved , continue to the next step. 
If the issue is resolved , you do not need to continue to the next step. 
Step three: Open the top cover and clear the jam
Unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
Raise the product cover.
Gently pull the paper out of the rollers.
Close the product cover.
Plug the power cord back into the product and try printing again.
If the issue is not resolved , continue to the next step. 
If the issue is resolved , you do not need to continue to the next step. 
Step four: Reload paper and test the product
Reload paper in the main tray. 
Turn on the product. 
Open the document you were trying to print, if it is not already open.
Click File , click Print , and then click Properties . The Printing Preferences dialog box opens. 
Click the Paper/Quality tab. 
Make sure that the type of paper listed in the Type is drop-down list matches the type of paper loaded in the product. 
A paper jam might occur if photo paper is specified in the Printer Properties dialog box but plain paper is loaded in the product. 

Try printing again.
If the issue is not resolved , continue to the next step. 
If the issue is resolved , you do not need to continue to the next step. 


Step five: Service the product

If you have completed all of the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.

Cause

Paper is jammed in the product. 
Solution

Check if the error message 'Mechanism Error ' displays on the computer.

If the message appears on the computer, then use the following steps to resolve the issue. 

Step one: Remove jammed paper from the product 
Unplug the power cord from the product. 
Open the rear access door and remove any paper from the paper path. 
Reattach the rear access door and connect the power cord. 
Turn on the product. The product starts and the carriage moves to its normal position. 
Try printing again. If the carriage still will not move, or makes a grinding noise, continue to the next step. 


Step two: Reset the product 


Unplug the power cord and remove the paper from the paper tray.
Raise the product cover .
